Listen, I’ve known this man nearly all my life, but I’ve never shot a picture of him. He’s an amazing person— funny, brilliant, wickedly talented, yet so incredibly kind. So, the other day when we were having a late lunch, I pulled out my phone and asked him if I could shoot a few pictures.
This is one of them.

Black and white photography is not only striking – it’s starkness can really reveal so much
That’s so very true, Madame Mouse!
I’ve never been able to relax in front of a camera and the only good shots of me have always been candid camera ones. Go you!
Thanks, Meeka! I don’t think your predicament is unusual. What I try to do when someone is uncomfortable is give them something to fiddle with while I take his/her picture. Being able to wear a hat or hold a weird object can go a long way to making us feel like we’re playing instead of taking pictures. That’s my theory, anyway.
Sadly nothing works for me and I always look sour. 🙁
A most unusual photo, indeed! A welcome brief break from editing the manuscript.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! I hope editing is going well. That last push can be a doozy!
