This song is like listening to a symphony on top of a symphony with great big bursts of rhythm and blues and crisp acoustic guitar-driven song writing.
The crack team at Ithaca Audio conceived the idea for this audio and video mashup, and then executed the entire thing, track on top of track, film cut on top of film cut, for a live audience. Because they were an up and coming music composition and sound design outfit, these free mixes were their way of offering a calling card to the world that showed just what they could do.
And then they became a worldwide phenom. (I love stories like that, don’t you?)
On Wednesday, I looked out the window and saw a change in the light, a softness to the sunlight that I read as a yearly sign that summer is shuttering its windows and the slow, full scent of a South Texas autumn is on the way.
To herald the coming autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, I wanted to post this phenomenal song as well as point you in the direction for a legal download of this song from Ithaca Audio on their Facebook Page. In order the available mashups and original compositions on their page, you must “like” the Ithaca Audio Facebook Page and click the little “thumbs up” image, and then you can choose your downloads. That’s it. Nothing tricky, or weird.
I hope you enjoy this live recorded mashup— it made me think of all of you, every single person I know who visits Bluebird Blvd. This song is a grand, wise, muscular and hopeful creation, full of good feeling. I don’t know how in the world I got so lucky as to know the neatest people in the world. Please know that I appreciate all that you are, and all that you do. You amaze me, all the time.
One last note— a Friday story will be running this evening, as well as a Super-Secret 5-Minute Dance Party. If you haven’t had a chance to stop by this week, I wanted to let you know that I’ve created two new mixes on the always wonderful Free Music Archives that are available for you to hear, and to download, legally. Go to my mix page on the Free Music Archive to hear and download. You don’t need to sign in or give your name or anything at all, if you don’t want to. It really is free, and the archive is full of some of the most amazing music I’ve ever heard— Bluebird Blvd. mixes on the Free Music Archives.
See you this evening if not sooner! Have a wonderful Friday!
